Liverpool were condemned to their second defeat of the still-young Premier League season after Aston Villa edged a surprise 1-0 victory at Anfield.
Gabby Agbonlahor, three days after signing a new four-year contact with Villa, was the difference between the sides after the striker pounced on a ball that fell kindly to him in the six yard box.
For the fourth season running, the West Midlands team leave Anfield without defeat after securing a battling 1-0 win.
It’s a surprise result but look at Villa’s start to the season. They are unbeaten, have conceded just once and as a result are second in the table two points behind Chelsea.
As for Liverpool, two defeats in four represent a rather slow start to the campaign. One shot on target at home will be of huge concern for Brendan Rodgers.
