A signature color is not a requirement for the characters who inhabit ShondaLand, but it is true the Olivia Pope on Scandal favors white, and the doctors on Grey’s Anatomy, by necessity, almost exclusively wear Seattle Grace blue. Will How to Get Away with Murder’s Annalise Keating, the latest fashion staple of ABC Thursday nights, get a signature color of her own? The most iconic item of clothing we’ve seen her wear so far is that plum/mauve leather jacket. You know the one.

But limiting Keating to one signature hue would be a crime even Keating wouldn’t dare touch. We gathered together some of Viola Davis’s most iconic red-carpet looks in order to determine what colors she can get away with and what colors look like murder. Our conclusion? She can get away with about anything.
