Two goals from Diego Tardelli proved the difference as Brazil overcame bitter rivals Argentina in the 100th meeting of the two great sides in Beijing.
Tardelli struck midway through each half after Argentina had one legitimate penalty claim turned down before Jefferson saved Lionel Messi’s spot kick at the end of the first half.
The result means that Brazil now lead the head-to-head between the sides with 40 victories to 36.
